I oversee Young Life in Montgomery County, Maryland, a Washington D.C. suburb of just over one million people. Young Life seeks to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith through caring adults showing up in their daily lives with the love of Christ. I have the joyful responsibility of recruiting, training, and retaining volunteer leaders and staff to meet young people where they are at and earn the right to tell them about who Jesus is and the life, He invites them to experience. We currently have over 50 volunteers and two other staff serving in ministries reaching middle school students, high school students, and teen parents throughout our community. The best part of what I do is showing up at local high schools, building mentor-friendships with students, and talking to them about faith. I get to do outreach work at the largest high school in the state of Maryland and lead a weekly small group Bible Study with a few girls at a school we are hoping to launch Young Life at for the first time in the 70-year history of Young Life in our county.
